KUMBHA MELA
Origin and Significance.
The Kumbha Mela is world’s biggest religious gathering. The
Kumbha Mela doesn’t belong to any caste or creed. It is the
festival biggest single event in India that attracts huge mix
of religions and cultural backgrounds to come together reflecting
the strength of Indian Society. It is a mega fair where Thousands
of Sadhus, Sanths & Mahanthas, saints, the Sadhus
or Nags and the devotees come together in four major pilgrim
centers across India: Haridwar, Allahabad, Ujjain and Nashik
(Trimbakeshwar) every 12 years. Millions of people gather to
take bathe in the sacred waters of the respected cities. It
is believed that bathing during the Kumbha Parva cures the bather
of all sins and evils and grants the bather salvation. It is
also believed that at the time of Kumbha the water of Sangam
is charged with positive healing effects. It is said, acknowledging
importance of Kumbha Mela Lord Rama with his Guru Kashyap performed
